On Wednesday the 28th of September, 2016 was the Edo state Gubernatorial elections. The election was really intense and there where reports of electoral misconduct between both parties which
involved bribery of voters on their various polling units, the use of thugs to disrupt the election process and also stealing of ballot boxes. During the voting process, various updates where post
online which saw either parties leading with various confusing results being displayed. At some point it was predicted online that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have won the election seeing that he was on the lead with a fair enough margin amidst all these reactions from various supporters online,
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made a public announcement that individuals should desist from any result that was been put online. Finally on Thursday, the result
where finally announced after people had waited patiently and it was announced that the candidate of
the All Progressive Congress (APC) Godwin Obaseki won the election with votes of 319,483 while
his closest contender Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu had votes of 253,173. Godwin Obaseki was reported to
have won in 13 LGA's and losing just 5. The PDP and her candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has refused to accept the result announced by INEC and also have refused to sign the final result sheet.
