GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE SAYS MILITARY WILL BE WITHDRAWN FROM THE STATE ON THE 15TH OF SEPTEMBER

The recent deployment of military officers on an operation known as the Python Dance II in the south east of Nigeria as left residents of the region feel tensed, most especially the residents of Abia

state. The Military have been accused of sending officers to the house of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu where civilian casualties where reported to have occurred. Since then they have been an

uproar in the region with various unconfirmed reports of attacks in the region with civilians been the victims most times. The governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu has however announced that the

military will tomorrow September 15th, withdraw its troops from the streets of Umuahia and Aba. The presence of the military has led to serious unrest in the state with IPOB members clashing with the troops since Sunday last week. The governor had this to say:

"The security situation in the state in the past few days, which led to the deployment of soldiers into our state ahead of the Operation Python dance 11, has become of

great concern to both the government and the citizenry. After several interventions, I want to inform you that by tomorrow morning, there will be withdrawal of soldiers from the streets at Aba and Umuahia, apart from the
pre-existing military checkpoints at various location in the state. With the expected exit of soldiers from the streets, we must warn that we will not tolerate agitators and protesters
taking over the streets for any reason at all. I will also be meeting the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Mohamadu Buhari, to discuss possible ways of relaxing the Operation Python dance 11 in the state for now"
The Governor warned all sympathizers and members of the Independent People of Biafra group to desist from spreading false rumors, capable of throwing the state into a state of Anarchy.
