A brave 53 year old woman Sandra De Santos has shunned any form of stigma that her skin condition might cause her and has decided to live a normal live. The mother of 4 who sadly lost one of her kids to the same condition called neurofibromatosis, was
pictured in the beach with her swim wear. Neurofibromatosis is a rare skin condition that occurs in people which leads to the development of bubble like tumours on the outer layer of the skin. The tumours are non cancerous, but if in any case cancerous cells are developed, can be treated using chemotherapy or Radiotherapy.
The condition occur in 3 different types, firstly NF1 which is not life threatening, Nf 2 and then NF3 or Schwannomatosis which is life threatening and needs to be managed properly. The conditions are not transmitted based on any form of contact but rather has to do with the genes of individuals as it is mostly passed from parent
to kids. People living with this condition should be treated fairly and should not face any form of stigmatization remember it can not be passed based on contact, so feel free to make friends with any one living with such condition.
