EP EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH UPCOMING MUSICIAN JAYPEEFRANCIS

JayPeeFrancis

We at EP had an amazing one on one chat with the beautiful upcoming artiste JayPeeFrancis, who just dropped her debut single titled Let It Drop. According to her, the song was inspired by her Ex boyfriend. Below are excerpts from the interview.

EP: What is your name as well as your stage name?

JayPeeFrancis: Opute Juliet, and stage name is JayPeeFrancis.

EP: How long have you been singing professionally?

JayPeeFrancis: I have been singing since childhood, but this is my first single i officially dropped with a link attached to it, but i started writing songs in 2011 after i followed my cousin to the studio. It was easy for me to compose a song because music has always been a part of me right from childhood.

EP: Your debut single, Let It Drop is really cool i must say. What inspired the song and what genre would you classify yourself?

JayPeeFrancis:  Thank you very much, like they say a baby who just started crawling would learn how to walk gradually until they become perfect and master their steps. My inspiration was my ex, i found out somethings about him that made me sober for a while. I couldn't post them on social media, neither did i speak about it to anyone. I turned to music as my form of speaking out, instead of telling people how i felt, i sang it in my song. That gave me inspiration, because the story really happened and it was easy to sing about it.

JayPeeFrancis double drip!
EP:  Ok. Are you an Afro Pop artiste, or otherwise, what genre would you classify yourself?

JayPeeFrancis: I'm more of an hip hop artiste, the first song i wrote was a rap song but i am singing for the masses and not myself so i have to satisfy my target audience, give them what they want to listen to, because as an artiste i should be able to go with any beat be it Afro pop, Hip Hop, R and B and so on.. but originally i am a rapper.

EP: Wow that is so cool and you are so right, would love to hear a rap song from you someday.  hopefully one would drop soon. Are you currently signed to any record label?

JayPeeFrancis: No i'm not, i am an independent artiste for the time being.

EP: Out of the record labels present in the country, which would you love to be signed to that would probably help you express your vision.

JayPeeFrancis: MAVIN RECORDS is my original target then followed by HKN... those are the top leading record labels at the moment.

EP: That's true. Which artiste inspires you the most in the country?

JayPeeFrancis: My number one inspiration is ASA and also Simi.

EP: How about the challenges with doing music, do you face any negative reactions from family, friends?

JayPeeFrancis: For the now, no challenges. I've received a lot of calls and messages from different family and friends, i feel loved, no negative reaction yet, everyone is encouraging me to do better. They all believe i me so much which makes me so proud of myself.

EP:  That's really lovely.

JayPeeFrancis: Thank you.

EP: Lastly, just tell us about yourself in general, school attended, course.....?

JayPeeFrancis: My name is Juliet Opute AKA JayPeeFrancis... Jay for Juliet,  Pee for Pamela and Farncis is my fathers name. I studied mass communication from Lead City University Ibadan, graduated 2016, i am simple and down to earth, generous and jovial, i love writing, singing, cooking and dancing, my favorite food is white rice, tomato stew and soft plantain. I partially like being alone because it gives me time to think and compose, i love hanging out with happy people because their vibe sometimes determines mine.. i am still an upcoming artiste who is willing to show the world my talent and win the heart of my target audience. I am from delta state, ndokwa west. My favorite colours are red, black, white and yellow.

EP: Thank you so mush for your time and we wish you the very best.

JayPeeFrancis: Thank you and God bless you.

EP: God bless you to dear.
