Former Nigerian president Shehu Shagari is dead, he died at the age of 93 at the National Hospital Abuja. He was president during the military era from 1979 to 1983, before he was overthrown in a coup by Muhammadu Buhari. The news of his demise was broken by the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on his Twitter handle.
