Seven killed others injured in Bauchi crashes

Seven persons have lost their lives while three others injured in separate road crashes in Bauchi State ,
 The  Staff Officer in charge of rescue , Chadi Khamis, said  two accidents happened at different locations in the state on January 28 , 2019 , at about the same time .
He said , “Two commercial vehicles , a Sharon car with number plate DNG 244 AM , and a Vectra car with number plate DRZ 598 XA , were involved in an accident at Zangoro village in the Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Monday , January 28, 2019 , around 7 . 45pm .
“ The accident was caused by excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking by the driver of one of the vehicles , which led to a head- on collision by the two vehicles .
“ Nine people were involved in the accident ; six of the passengers died on the spot, while one died at the hospital , and the other two were taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital , Bauchi for medical attention . ”
Khamis added that the second accident happened close to the NNPC Mega Filling Station at Wuntin Dada in the Bauchi metropolis .
He said a J5 open van with number plate Bauchi 851 ZE was conveying a brand new tractor when the accident happened .
According to him , the driver of the J5 , who was carrying two passengers and luggage beyond the vehicle ’ s limit , was driving out of Bauchi when he tried to wrongly overtake another vehicle .
“The driver of a Peugeot 308 , who was coming into Bauchi , had a head - on collision with the J5 , who was still on its lane after the wrongful overtaking . It happened around 7 pm , ” Khamis stated.
He added that the driver of the J5 broke his leg, while that of the Peugeot 308 ,suffered no physical injury .
