On Tuesday, the 4th of July 2017, the Senate resumed session to the house and activities commenced as usual. One of such activities that felt rather strange was the suggestion by the senators to make the senate President Bukola Saraki the Acting President since both the vice president and the President

where not on sit. The suggestion was gaining a lot of grounds up until the Senate president over ruled it on grounds of it being out of order. It all started when the Senate President read a letter from the Acting President, Yemi Osinbanjo requesting for confirmation of Lanre Gbajabiamila as director-
general of the Nigeria Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC). The Senators felt irritated by this as earlier the Acting President had made claims that the Upper Chambers had no right to either confirm or reject nominees made by the executives. This lead to the drama that ensued in the Senate on that day, with many Nigerians feeling that this might not be the end of the drama.
