FIND OUT HOW TO LINK YOUR SIM NUMBER TO YOUR NIN

The Nigerian government has given an instruction to network providers to block any line who fails to link their  National Identity Number (NIN) to their SIM. This information brought a lot of concerns as it seemed we had to be physically present at a network providers outlet or office before the linking can be done.

Thankfully, network providers have provided an easy way to perform this linking using USSD codes or by sending a message in a particular format.

This post aims at showing you how this linking can be done. Remember this can only be done if you already have your NIN. If you do not, then you have to get your NIN from an NIMC office close to you.

MTN subscribers: If you are using MTN, simply dial *785#Your NIN# from the phone number you wish to link. You can also check your status to determine of the number has been linked by dialing *346# on your phone.

Airtel subcribers: For Airtel subscribers, simply dial *121*1#. You will then be prompted to insert your NIN number, Do so and submit. Once that is done you will get a success message. If you do not know your NIN number, simply dial *346#

Glo subscribers:  For Glo subscribers, you can link your NIN to your  phone number by simply sending an SMS in the format UPDATENIN, your NIN number, First name, Last name to 109.

9Mobile: 9Mobile is yet to provide an easy means on how to link your NIN to your phone number. According to them they are looking for a simple way to carry out this process. For updates, you can follow up on them here 9mobile.com.ng
