The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal. Recall that Babachir was sacked on the 30th of
October 2017 following his indictment in a report by the presidential investigation panel chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, that investigated his involvement in the misappropriation of funds meant for the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons IDPs.
According to reports, Babachir Lawal diverted funds to some companies linked by him. He was alleged to have used a whooping 200 million naira to cut grass at the Internally Displaced Person's (IDP) camp.
EFCC Acting Head, Media & Publicity, Samin Amaddin, who confirmed Babachir's arrest, said he is currently being interrogated by EFCC investigators and that he is so far cooperating.
